Import contacts from CSV
Bulk load people and organizations from a spreadsheet export.
Overview
Import a CSV or Excel export from another tool, event list, or spreadsheet into your workspace contact graph. Review the mapping before commit—imports are hard to undo at scale.
Rather have us handle it? If you have a large or messy export—multiple files, inconsistent company names, or a legacy CRM dump—we can upload and clean your spreadsheets and load contacts into your workspace as part of onboarding. Talk to us to scope your import.
Supported sources
- Generic contact exports (name, email, company, title)
- Event attendee lists
- Legacy CRM dumps
For LinkedIn’s official export, use Import LinkedIn connections instead—column layout differs.
Steps
In Contacts, open Import and choose CSV/Excel.
Upload your file. Match columns to Toolblocks fields (person name, email, organization, title, notes).
Preview the first rows for obvious errors—wrong delimiter, header row, or UTF-8 issues.
Run the import. Large files may take a minute; keep the tab open.
After import, dedupe organizations with similar names and set categories and connection strength.
Hygiene tips
- Normalize company names before import (
LLC,Inc.) to reduce duplicates - Split combined “name” fields if your export mashed first and last together
- Run enrichment only on a prioritized subset to conserve credits
Do not import sensitive personal data you do not need for BD. See Data privacy.
