Post-event follow-up

Turn event conversations into contacts, tasks, and timely outreach.

Overview

Events fail when follow-up slips. Toolblocks ties shortlists, contacts, and tasks so you can work the list in the first 48–72 hours while context is fresh.

Steps

Within 24 hours, open the event’s shortlist.

For each person you met, confirm or create a contact—add their LinkedIn URL on the contact record if you have it.

Set connection strength and a follow-up reminder with a note referencing the conversation.

Create workspace tasks for principals (deck send, intro request, lunch scheduling).

If the firm is strategic, link people to an account and log activity on the account timeline.

  • Reference something specific from the conversation—generic “great meeting you” blasts hurt trust
  • Batch similar follow-ups, but personalize the first line
  • Defer heavy research until you confirm the pursuit is real

Marketing and BD can share one shortlist; use notes on each member so handoffs are visible.
