Custom research tasks

Define prompts and output fields for repeatable, evidence-backed research.

Overview

Custom research tasks let you run guided workflows with your own prompt, structured output fields, and optional focus links. They are ideal when municipality or address templates do not fit—pursuit briefs, competitor context, or niche jurisdiction questions—always draft for review with sources where possible.

When to use this

  • You repeat the same research question across pursuits or projects.
  • You need specific fields (for example decision-makers, recent awards, bond capacity) in a consistent layout.
  • A principal wants citations attached to task output before a call.

Steps

Create or open a task in the workspace and choose a custom research workflow (or start from the research entry point your workspace exposes).

Write a clear prompt—who the subject is, geography, and what decisions the output should support.

Define output fields you expect back (short answers, lists, or structured sections).

Add focus links (optional) to steer the model toward authoritative pages.

Run the workflow and review sources and citations before sharing.

Correct errors with overrides and corrections so the next run benefits.

Custom research consumes research runs and AI tokens from your Team pool (scaled by Revenue seats) or pay-as-you-go on Free. Check Settings → Billing → Subscription before large batch runs.
